Telecommunication
The telecommunications infrastructure in Valdosta, Lake Park and Lowndes County provides the full array of products and services that AT&T has to offer. This includes all data and broadband services. The Valdosta and Lake Park wire centers are on an even par with any city in Georgia, including Atlanta, and boast a telecommunications and data network equal to any in the nation. A variety of fiber-fed facilities provide applications to customers in a variety of disciplines including small, medium and large business, education, manufacturing and distribution, service industries, medicine and health care. Local managers monitor and plan our telecommunications facilities and AT&T’s employees in the Valdosta area work diligently to insure that our network accommodates the growth and service needs of our customers.
Infrastructure:
AT&T continues to invest in its network in Valdosta, Lake Park and Lowndes County. AT&T continually upgrades its network to insure that the latest technological capabilities are available to meet the evolving needs of both residents and businesses.
Capabilities:
AT&T has two area central offices that are located in Valdosta and Lake Park. Both facilities are digital and the Valdosta office is a tandem switch. Both central offices are currently providing a full range of data and broadband services and both exceed system reliability standards of 99.15%. Currently, within the city limits of Valdosta, AT&T DSL services are available to 100% of city residents. Over 90% of all AT&T customers in the total Valdosta exchange over 90% of all customers in the Lake Park exchange have access to DSL. These percentages continue to rise as new DSL sites are deployed and funded for development. Over 95% of all businesses have access to DSL. Over 80% of all businesses in Valdosta, Lake Park and Lowndes County are served, wholly or in part, by fiber facilities.
100% of Valdosta and Lake Park businesses have access to advanced data services from AT&T such as Frame Relay, MetroEthernet, and optical services, up to and including Dense Wave Data Multiplexing (DWDM).
AT&T dial-up Internet services are available to 100% of Valdosta, Lake Park and Lowndes County residents.
Valdosta has several diverse fiber rings capable of handling any type of service needed. Diverse fiber rings provide service continuity to customers in the event of a fiber cable being cut or a natural disaster. AT&T is continually upgrading its network to the diverse ring configuration. Additionally, dozens of SONET Rings exist in the Valdosta market, many of them are totally route diverse. All loops that have been placed in the past 10 years have been SONET. Industrial parks in the area are currently served by fiber optic facilities. Current and prospective customers in the industrial parks can easily be accommodated with all available services, including DS3. New locations currently being considered for future industrial sites/parks are adjacent to fiber optic facilities already in place.
Available services include but are not limited to: ADSL, DSL, ISDN (Basic and Primary Rate), Frame Relay, ATM, Native Mode Land Interconnection (NMLI) with speeds up to Gigabit, MetroEthernet, MegaLink, Channelized MegaLink, MegaLink Plus, Synchronet, DS3/T3 Services, Flex Serv, Centrex, AT&T Internet Service (Dial-up rate of up to 64K), Dedicated Internet Access rates up to DS3 level, Fractional T-1s for Frame Relay or Internet Access, SmartRing, Channelized Trunks, MemoryCall, Business E-Mail, Managed Router Service, Wholesale PPP, Managed Security Services, AT&T Managed Firewall Services, Web Hosting and Design, Virtual Private Dial Network VPDN), Customer Interaction Services to support Call Centers, Data Equipment, Key Systems, Paging Services, PBX, VOIP Solutions and Centrex. AT&T partners with Best-in-Breed companies like Cisco, IBM and EDS to provide total solutions to our customers. AT&T has many industry certifications including being a Cisco Gold Certified Partner and being SunTone Certified.
AT&T will continue to work closely with the Valdosta/Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce and with the Valdosta/Lowndes County Industrial Development Authority to attract and retain business and industry through the utilization of our network and services. This network continues to attract prospects by virtue of the availability of leading edge products and services n Valdosta and the surrounding area.
